Kopplin & Kinas Snowplow
If you live in Brooklyn Township you’re familiar with seeing Snow Plow Trucks like this keeping your Roads open all Winter long no matter how much snow there is or hard the wind is blowing! But for everyone else, trucks like this are only seen in pictures from years ago. The reason the Town of Brooklyn Residents have seen these Trucks forever is because Kopplin & Kinas has been plowing their Roads forever, and they were Kind enough to bring us this 1980 Oshkosh for Show ‘n Tell this week!
Kopplin & Kinas began in 1926 and was founded shortly before the Great Depression by Oswald Kinas, August Kopplin and Dave Williams… who realized the need for constructing more roadways and eventually removing snow from them.
The Company grew in size as years went by... Don and Tom Kinas started the second generation in the 1970’s. Then in the 1990’s the third generation began to run the Company… Katie Kinas, Warren Kinas, Oz Kinas, Bill Kinas, Ward Kinas, Chris Kinas and Letty Kinas. Over the years the Company plowed snow for many area townships. They plowed with Graders with V-Plows, Wheel Loaders and of course… Oshkosh Trucks with V-Plows & Wings!
At one time, Kopplin & Kinas were operating as many as 14 Oshkosh Trucks, plowing for seven different townships! Due to labor shortages, the only Township they continue to provide snow removal for is the Town of Brooklyn.
The Oshkosh Truck was chosen for the simple reason that it can plow the snow and sand the roads at the same time as it’s pushing large amounts of snow away from the road with the side mounted wing! An Oshkosh Truck did this all with ease, so there is no need for a second truck to help out.
Kopplin & Kinas Plow Operators take a lot of Pride in being able to move any amount of Snow quickly & easily in order to keep all the roads open & safe for winter travelers! The Plow Operators even have a saying amongst themselves that goes… “It only snows on Holidays & Weekends!”
A Big Thank You to Kopplin & Kinas for bringing in this Old School Snow Plow for the Kids to enjoy and also for keeping the Roads clear & safe so that there’s absolutely no excuse for any of our Students to miss School!

International Harvester
This Harvester is heading for its’ warm and cozy resting storage spot on the Farm we borrowed it from. The Old School would like to Thank Hillcrest Dairy Farm and the Krebs Family one more time for their generosity in letting those Rambunctious Kids tackle another Extra Credit Project!
Over the course of a fast week, those Kids carefully recovered this tractor and mounted corn picker from the spot it’s been sitting in for 42 years! Turns out the engine was stuck and but only needed a few short prayers, a couple pinched fingers, and numerous choice words, before the Mice and Malort came out… all just before the smoke and wrenches flew!
