Our Story
Originally built as Bush Hill School in 1871, the property remained a one room school until 1951 when the building was repurposed into a restaurant. The property changed ownership over the years, and most recently was owned by Merlin and Vera Soda. They purchased the property in 1981 and began the extensive remodel which included replacing the stone foundation with a full basement Mrs. Soda completed renovations in 1987 and opened "A Litte Red Schoolhouse". Over the next few years, Mrs. Soda would occasionally open the Dining Room for a Friday Fish Fry, but the new bar room was never officially opened.

The property then sat idle for some time until Spring of 2022, when a simple idea was conceived... open the Bar Room; in order to share it’s unique charm, add spacious outdoor patios; to provide enjoyment of the amazing natural views, and allow the Dining Room to be used as a community gathering area... AND combine all of that with a “Lighter Side “ of School! That’s when the idea of “The Old School” was born...A Unique Version of a School that you WANT to attend and that will become a destination for years to come!

Also be sure to check out what we like to call the Homeroom, which was previously the Dining Room, that is now available to rent for many uses... Birthday Parties, Graduation Parties, Class Reunions, Wedding Receptions, Business Meetings, the list goes on and on!
